Get together and get moving for National Family Health and Fitness Day this Saturday, June 12!

Family Health and Fitness Day was created by the National Recreation and Park Association to encourage physical activity while also highlighting the important role parks and recreational areas play in keeping our communities healthy.

Make a Change

Whether you’re still trying to shake that stubborn quarantine weight or looking for ways to get your kids off their screens, Family Health and Fitness Day is the perfect opportunity to reflect on your family’s food and exercise habits and set new goals to reboot your health journey!

Did you know that according to the CDC, approximately 13.7 million children and 93.3 million adults in the U.S. suffer from obesity? While an additional 36.3 percent of Americans 18 years and older are classified as overweight. Obesity brings the risk of developing serious health issues such as heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, gallstones, stroke, osteoarthritis, asthma, and much more. Making physical activity enjoyable is a great way to get into a consistent healthy routine while having fun doing it.

By creating an outdoor environment where exercise is fun, children can form life-long positive habits and mentalities associated with being active. In addition, getting off the couch and getting outside can instantly lift your mood and bring your family together in a fresh, new way. Sometimes, the simplest quality time together can leave children with the best memories!
