March 30 is National Doctors’ Day, a time to recognize the heroic measures doctors take to keep their communities safe and healthy. We would like to personally thank the remarkable physicians at Wylie ER!

Our incredible team of emergency physicians go above and beyond to put our patients first. We appreciate each of you and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the long hours you endure, the sacrifices you make, and the courageous work you do for our community. Wylie ER would not be where it is today without our amazing team of doctors!

Get to Know Our Extraordinary Doctors

Dr. Joseph Meier 

Dr. Meier had always wanted to be an emergency medicine doctor. His dream came true when he graduated from Mayo Medical School and after attended UC Davis for his Emergency Medicine residency. With over 20 years of experience, he is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. He was drawn to Dallas many years ago and since then he has fallen in love with the area and the people. Dr. Meier has been married to his wife, Marcia, for 27+ years and has two girls and a boy.  

Fun Fact: He is fluent in English and Spanish. In his free time, he enjoys rock climbing, bike riding, and spending time with his family. 

Dr. Aida Meza 

Dr. Aida Meza loves being an emergency room physician. She received her medical degree from McGovern Medical School at UTHealth and has over 16 years of experience. She treats her patients like they are family. Dr. Meza is a wife and a mother, so she knows how important it is to have an emergency room with caring staff close to home. In her job, Dr. Meza, values the fact she can directly affect people every day. 

Fun fact: In her free time, she loves to play with her adorable 3-year-old twins.

Dr. Robert Holland 

Dr. Robert Holland earned his B. S. in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M and a M. D. from Baylor College of Medicine. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Texas Houston. With his leadership skills, Dr. Holland focuses on serving his community by providing an excellent patient experience. He received recognition for his efforts from D Magazine, named “Best Doctors in Collin County” in 2015 and 2017, and “Best Doctors in Emergency Medicine” in 2017. 

Fun Fact: Dr. Holland is an entrepreneur and investor, and he is passionate for service-oriented activities. He is also the owner of Little Medical School of North Texas.

Dr. Trent Stephenson 

Dr. Trent Stephenson obtained his medical degree in Osteopathic Medicine from Kansas City University. Dr. Stephenson had it clear, since first grade he knew he wanted to be a physician. He was the kicker for the Southern Methodist Football team and was on the All-Conference academic team. During college, he also worked as a physician scribe in the emergency department. Today, he has 13 years of experience and enjoys seeing a variety of patient complaints and meeting new people every day which led him to choose emergency medicine as his specialty. He trained at Parkland Hospital in association with UTSW where he served as a chief resident.  

Fun Fact: In his free time, he likes to pump iron, tell dad jokes and spend time with his lovely wife and two children.

Dr. Steven Hoel 

Dr. Hoel received his medical degree from Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1986. Dr. Hoel is board certified in Emergency Medicine and has a passion for health care. 

Fun fact: Dr. Hoel has been in practice for more than 25 years!
